"Because I am righteous, I will see You. When I awake, I will see You face to face and be satisfied."
-Psalm 17:15
Lately at night I have been reading in the psalms because in Act 2 (the drama ministry team I am a part of for my school) we have been working on our play for the year titled "The Story of David". It has been very interesting and I have thoroughly enjoyed learning even more about the great King David, a man after God's own heart. I decided to read the psalms because I think it will help me even more to read his very prayers and songs of praise.
Tonight I read this and was stopped dead in my tracks. It really caught me off guard... "because I am righteous..."
David called himself righteous. I thought to myself at first, I am not righteous. This does not apply to me. Then I thought, David was not righteous either! The more I thought and prayed about what this meant and why in the world David would call himself righteous, the clearer God made this passage to me. When we have faith in God and are called among His believers to be a part of His family when we accept His free gift of grace, He makes us righteous. It is not me that is righteous, it is God in me that is righteous... it is CHRIST in me that is righteous. And the righteousness of Christ in me makes me a righteous person.
I am SO thankful for God's grace that because of His great sacrifice, I am righteous and when I "wake up" that one beautiful day in eternity, I will see Him face to face and be completely satisfied.
I cannot wait. :)
